GALWAY DAYS COVID POLICY

The Galway Days Irish Festival takes place in Town Square Park, an open-air space in downtown Anchorage. As an outdoor event, we are following applicable public health guidelines. Proof of vaccination, the wearing of masks, or a negative COVID-19 test are not required of festival volunteers or attendees.

COVID-19 vaccines, boosters, masks, and social distancing are encouraged by the Alaska Department of Health. Community transmission is HIGH in Anchorage at the time of this writing one week before the festival. As such, the State of Alaska encourages everyone to wear a mask indoors when in public. Many of the areas of our festival are in tents with side walls, which may not achieve the same level of ventilation as a purely outdoor space. The Galway Days Irish Festival strongly encourages mask wearing in these tented areas and will provide masks for volunteers and festival attendees throughout the festival. Signage from the State of Alaska encouraging mask wearing will also be posted.

Hand sanitizer and masks will be provided to volunteers and festival attendees throughout the festival site. All attendees are encouraged to sanitize their hands frequently. There are multiple locations within the festival site where attendees can socially distance from the crowd. However, these locations may have limited capacity and despite this effort, attendees should note that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where large groups of people are present. While we cannot guarantee (and do not guarantee) that you will not become infected with COVID-19, we have taken measures to reduce the risk of transmission.

If you are feeling ill, we request that you stay home and do not attend the festival for your safety and for the safety of others. We reserve the right to implement future screening protocols, including those conforming with public health regulations.

At the Festival: Lost Children & Vulnerable Adults

MEETING POINT
The Children’s Lá Féile tent is the Lost Child  and Vulnerable Adult Meeting Point when someone is lost. Please go to the Children's
Lá Féile tent if someone in your care is missing.

If you find a child or vulnerable adult who appears lost, please take them to the Children’s Lá Féile tent and check in with one of the Lost Child Officers, Kate O’Dell or Marie Reisinger. Lost children or vulnerable adults will remain at the Children’s Lá Féile tent until collected by a family member or guardian. IDs will be checked for the identity of the person collecting the child or vulnerable adult.
