ICA President Interviewed on KSKA

Picture
Listen to the Alaska Public Media/KSKA St. Patrick's Day interview with our very own president, Kate O'Dell, that recently aired on KSKA. Kate speaks about a variety of Irish traditions and many of the exciting upcoming Irish Club events this year. She even shares the secret of the famous Irish Club whiskey balls!
Also featured on the interview are local musicians performing Irish music, including the multi-talented singer, musician, and Irish Club member, Terri McCoy.

Irish Language & History Classes!

The Irish Club of Alaska invites you to the second semester of our Irish language and history class.  Professor Caoimhin De Barra, who is a member of the Gonzaga University faculty, is the instructor.  The tuition fee of $100 covers registration and a copy of the textbook.  If you were not enrolled in the first semester but you would like to register now, you can pay another $75 for access to the videos of the Fall Semester Zoom sessions, so you can catch up.  You will need to let us know very soon that you plan on registering, so I can order a book for you.  Since they are out of print, getting copies is difficult, and shipping is usually slow.

The class meets for one hour in a Zoom room on Tuesday nights at 7 pm. The first class will be Tuesday, January 28, 7:00 pm.  I will send out an email with the link and log-in information a day or two before. And it's not too late - you can still sign up after that date!

In between class meetings, we interact in WhatsApp, and some of us are using Duolingo to provide additional practice.  We plan on having popup Gaeltachts occasionally where we can practice our Irish in informal conversations.

If you are interested in enrolling for the second semester, please email Kate O’Dell ([email protected]), who will send you the course description and registration form.
