A lot of us sing and play pop and rock songs that we learned sometimes long ago, back when we used to listen to that kind of music.

I think I’ve learned a few things about how to do that and you probably have too. I’ll play a couple of songs, and you bring songs to share, and we’ll have a good time and probably pick up some ideas.

I wanted to be Bob Dylan when I was a kid, but didn’t succeed. Then I wanted to be the Beatles, same result. Then I spent 20 years with my family in Africa and put my musical dreams on the shelf.

I’ve done a lot of things with the Portland FolkMusic society since we moved here in 2007. During the pandemic, I’ve attended the weekly virtual song circles and they have been the impetus for me to learn a lot of new songs.

I sometimes write songs to share new ideas and make a difference. Here is one that went a little bit viral: https://youtu.be/BiYJJr_GpcI
