Wings to Fly

Picture
Wings to Fly began as a duo about thirty years ago with fiddler / singer Shonti Elder, and Elsa Aegerter, flute, guitar and singer.  About twenty years ago, they added Karl Wilhelmi, singer, mandolin and bass and about ten years ago Marianne See joined them on vocal and guitar.  They’ve performed yearly at the Anchorage Folk Festival, and the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, as well as at parties and weddings.  Their music features sweet harmonies, quick dance tunes, and focuses on contemporary songwriters.  Both Karl and Shonti write their own music as well.  The music is family friendly, and all ages are welcome.

You can learn more about Shonti at her website:  www.shontielder.com  Her most recent recording is Bow Drawn, which includes 24 other musicians on 20 mostly original works. She has two recordings with Will Putman, “Northwords” and “Homefires,” and plays with Jubilee on “A Welcome Sound.”
