Will provide basic information on creating and drafting your own Celtic knotwork, useful in everything from knitting to leatherwork.

If you’ve always loved the sound of the Irish drum, this is your chance to get started with the basics you need to start playing. Bring your own drum and tipper (drum stick), or if you don’t have one, a thin (1”) three-ring binder or even a clipboard makes a decent surface to practice on.

Mary is Director of Alaska City Folk Arts. She has taught many young people how to play folk music, including Irish and has been a member of the Anchorage folk music community since 1977. 

2:30pm-2:50pm ☘️ THUGAMAR FÉIN AN SAMRADH LINN: LEARNING AN ANCIENT SONG IN THE LIVING TRADITION 
Instructor: Tania Opland
In the earliest collected version of this Irish ever-popular language song 230 years ago, it was described as “Probably very ancient.” Come learn a version or two for yourself, along with some of its rich history.

3:00pm-3:20pm ☘️ IRISH SONGS & STORIES: IMMIGRATION AND WORK
Instructor: Philip Price
This workshop looks at the songs and stories of the Irish workforce overseas as they began their lives far from home as new immigrants and exiles. The workshop presenter, Philip Price, is a retired professor and Dublin native.

Comparing Irish whiskey and Scotch whiskey without imbibing.
