If someone says Dia dhuit! to you, do you know whether they’re saying Hi! or Go away!?  Come down to Town Square on August 10 and spend some time in a new area of the Galway Days Irish Festival – a Gaeltacht, “Irish spoken here” – to find the answer.

In the tent, you’ll meet Caoimhin De Barra and his family.  Dr. De Barra is on the faculty of Gonzaga University where he teaches Irish language, culture, and history.  As you spend time in the Gaeltacht, you'll be able to learn some Irish words and phrases through a variety of activities, including short films, stories, and songs.
You'll also get information about a course in Irish language that the Irish Club of Alaska hopes to host in the coming months with Professor De Barra as the instructor. And if you're interested, you can sign up to receive information as soon as it's finalized.
